Building contractors, electrical, plumbing and heating businesses, roofers, painters and tilers – for wholesalers, manufacturers and software providers who want to reach the businesses of one trade in a region by phone or by post.
378,480 businesses in Germany according to Destatis, business register, GENESIS table 52111-0010 (reference year 2024, table updated 21 September 2026). Section F construction (divisions 41 to 43). We quote the size, contact coverage and price of your export on request.
Official statistics have no category called “skilled trades” (Handwerk). They classify businesses by activity: construction is section F of the classification of economic activities, with the three divisions construction of buildings, civil engineering and specialised construction activities. Whether a business practises a craft in the legal sense, on the other hand, is governed by the German Crafts Code – and the two classifications only partly overlap.
Bakers, hairdressers and car repair shops are crafts, but not construction. People looking for “tradespeople addresses” usually mean the construction and finishing trades; this industry refers to those. Motor vehicle businesses are under Car dealers and repair shops.
| WZ 2008 | Official title | For your selection |
|---|---|---|
| 41 | Construction of buildings | construction of buildings (41.2) and property developers (41.1); developers can be excluded |
| 42 | Civil engineering | roads and railways (42.1), utility projects and sewage plants (42.2) |
| 43.21 | Electrical installation | electrical contractors |
| 43.22 | Plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation | what is commonly called “SHK” (sanitary, heating, air-conditioning) in German |
| 43.3 | Building completion and finishing | including plasterers and stucco workers (43.31) |
| 43.91 | Roofing and carpentry | part of group 43.9 “Other specialised construction activities” |
For construction and finishing there is a statutory register – it just cannot be searched like a business directory.
These 15 columns are included.
In the statistics, a business has exactly one main activity. A heating installer who also renovates bathrooms and installs solar systems is classified under 43.22 – not additionally under tiling or electrical installation. Filtering by trade therefore gives you the businesses with that main activity, not all businesses that offer the service.
The region follows the business address. A roofer from the district of Harburg works in Hamburg but counts towards Lower Saxony. For field sales territories along a state border, it is worth requesting the neighbouring districts as well.
If a business is a sole proprietorship, its data is personal data. Anyone using it for marketing must observe the duty to inform under Art. 14 GDPR and the right to object.
We sell heat pumps through specialist dealers and are looking for businesses whose main activity is 43.22 in Lower Saxony and Bremen and that publish a phone number. Please exclude property developers and pure planning offices. How many records is that, and how recent is the data?
