L 68
Property and homeowners’ association managers, estate agents, housing companies and landlords of their own properties – for trade and service businesses, metering service providers, software providers and utilities that want to reach decision-makers responsible for many buildings.
201,508 businesses in Germany according to Destatis, business register, GENESIS table 52111-0010 (reference year 2024, table updated 21 September 2026). Section L real estate activities (division 68). We quote the size, contact coverage and price of your export on request.
Division 68 “Real estate activities” consists of three very different groups. For most requests only the third one counts: businesses that broker or manage property on behalf of others.
Group 68.2 is the most difficult for sales. Besides housing companies, it also contains asset-holding companies that hold a single property and have neither an office nor staff.
| WZ 2008 | Official title | For your selection |
|---|---|---|
| 68.1 | Buying and selling of own real estate | trading in own properties; property developers, by contrast, are under 41.1 in construction |
| 68.2 | Renting and operating of own or leased real estate | housing companies, but also property and asset-holding companies |
| 68.31 | Real estate agencies | estate agents |
| 68.32 | Management of real estate on a fee or contract basis | property, rental and homeowners’ association (WEG) managers |
Estate agents and property managers need an official licence. Unlike insurance intermediaries, however, it cannot be looked up in a central directory.
These 15 columns are included.
Homeowners’ associations (WEG) are not in the commercial register and have no business address of their own. Anyone looking for “WEG addresses” reaches them via the property manager. A list of class 68.32 is therefore the practical route to many buildings via few contacts.
Estate agents and property managers are often the same business. In the statistics, the main activity counts: an office that mainly brokers and manages thirty units on the side is classified under 68.31. If needed, request both classes together and remove duplicates.
How many units a management company looks after is not stated in any public source. This most important piece of information for sales can only be clarified in conversation.

No. Private landlords are not businesses in the sense of the list. Commercial landlords and housing companies of group 68.2 are included insofar as they appear in the dataset’s sources.
The Trade Regulation Act does not provide for a public register for § 34c trades. The licence can be checked with the competent authority; this does not produce a nationwide list.
