Register of associations: public, but only for individual searches

Registered associations have a register of their own. Many institutions in this industry, however, are companies, public-law bodies or unregistered associations.

Register of associations
Registered associations (e. V.) are entered in the register of associations at the local court (§ 55 BGB). Anyone may inspect it (§ 79 BGB), also via the joint register portal of the federal states – as individual searches, not as a dataset for download.
Chambers
Chambers of industry and commerce, chambers of crafts and professional chambers are public-law bodies. As organisations they belong to this industry; their member directories are separate sources with their own terms of use.
Parishes
Religious communities can be public-law bodies (Art. 140 of the Basic Law with Art. 137 of the Weimar Constitution). Their parishes are not in any register; dioceses and regional churches publish the addresses themselves.

Clubs, associations, sport and culture: A selection your sales team can explain

Targeting brief for Clubs, associations, sport and culture: For each relevant code (90, 91, 92, 93.1, 93.2, 94.1, 94.2, 94.9), decide which activity fits your offer and which neighbouring activities to exclude. Unavailable attributes are: number of members and club sections; names of chairpersons and board members; charitable and tax status; sports facilities, hall times and league levels; register number and register court of the association. Do not treat these as filters already applied to the list. Transfer the boundaries explained below into the brief and flag the research your team still needs to do.

Most associations are run by volunteers. The address is often the home of a board member and changes when a new board is elected. Phone numbers and postal addresses of small associations are therefore shorter-lived than those of businesses; federations and large clubs, by contrast, have an office.

A sports club with a gym, a museum with a café, an association with an academy: many institutions have several activities. The assignment follows the main activity; academies of associations may therefore be in the industry Education and training.

The official figure covers section R only; the table gives no figure for the organisations of division 94. Our figure includes associations, federations and parishes insofar as they appear in our sources and is therefore higher.
